Barcelona protests against the match in Miami: players stood still on the field.
Protest by Barcelona players
According to The Sun: MARCUS RASHFORD along with his teammates from Barcelona expressed disagreement with the decision to travel to Miami. In a symbolic act, they stood still for the first 15 seconds of the match on their home field against Girona.
The Catalan club is outraged that their match in December against Villarreal has been moved to Florida. Other La Liga teams also support the players' protest.
“We believe that this decision is unfair and does not reflect the interests of fans and players,”
noted one of the protest participants.
This protest underscores the tension between clubs and league management on issues that directly concern players and fans. The situation with rescheduling matches is by no means new, but each such case causes outrage and calls to protect the interests of fans. Whether this will lead to changes in match scheduling policy remains to be seen.
