Basic Social Assistance in Ukraine: Who Can Now Receive Payments.
According to inkorr.com: The experimental project for providing basic social assistance is moving to a new level. From today, significantly more Ukrainian families will be able to receive financial support from the state - even those who were not previously part of the social assistance system.
Expanding Access to Assistance
According to the Ministry of Social Policy, the second stage of beta testing expands the opportunities for assistance recipients. Now all low-income families that meet certain criteria can apply for support, regardless of whether they have previously received any social payments. You can apply for assistance right now at any service center of the Pension Fund of Ukraine.
The new type of state support combines five separate types of social assistance into one comprehensive payment. Instead of several different payments, the family receives a single basic assistance amount calculated for all family members.
Features of the New Stage
The first stage of the experiment started on July 1, 2025, covering only those who were already receiving certain types of social assistance. Now the project is open to all low-income families.
The state has established clear criteria for refusal of payment. Basic social assistance will not be granted to families that:
- have able-bodied adults who have not been working, studying, engaging in entrepreneurship, serving in the army, or registered with the employment center for more than 3 months;
- anyone has purchased property or made a purchase worth more than 100 thousand hryvnias in the last year;
- have more than 100 thousand hryvnias in bank accounts or bonds of the same amount;
- own a second apartment or house;
- own more than one car younger than 15 years.
The amount of assistance is individual for each family and is calculated according to the established formula. The basic amount is 4500 hryvnias.
For those who are entitled to an old-age pension or have reached 60 years of age but do not have sufficient work experience, the amount of assistance depends on the years worked.
The policy of expanding basic social assistance to Ukrainian families has reached a new stage aimed at making the system of social payments more accessible and transparent. Now numerous families can apply for financial support, which can significantly improve the situation of low-income citizens of Ukraine.
