Gas prices drop by 4 hryvnias: expert names condition for all networks.
Director of energy programs at the 'Razumkov Center' Volodymyr Omelchenko believes that prices for gasoline and diesel in Ukraine may soon decrease if all market players are honest. If prices do not drop next week by 3-4 hryvnias, this may indicate the abuse of monopoly power by some companies.
In June, fuel prices in Ukraine rose by 6-7% due to the conflict between Israel and Iran. Gasoline prices reached 58.92 hryvnias per liter, while diesel stood at 55.88 hryvnias per liter. Omelchenko claims that such a sharp increase in prices may be a result of speculation by fuel companies.
The expert urges the Antimonopoly Committee to take control of the situation and investigate the price increases, as consumers have already overpaid for fuel 'hundreds of millions, if not billions of hryvnias'.
Summary: Volodymyr Omelchenko warns that fuel prices in Ukraine must be reduced; otherwise, it may indicate the abuse of monopoly power by companies. The price increase in June is considered speculative by the expert and emphasizes the need for a thorough investigation of this situation.
