Manchester United defeats Manchester City in the derby: analysis of chances and bets

According to The Sun: Welcome to Manchester, but when it comes to the title race, things are not going well here, to say the least.

Two out of three is usually an acceptable result, but for City, it is not what they were expecting as the team has already suffered two defeats against Tottenham and Brighton in their first three matches.

In contrast, United have gained two points from Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, who have performed well. However, the £66 million for Benjamin Sesko has yet to pay off.

United's first win of the season came only after serious struggles against Burnley, a team fighting for survival. Nevertheless, they show a spirit reminiscent of the Ferguson days.

This is important, especially on derby day, wherever it takes place.

City, for their part, displayed extremely poor play, looking uncertain in defense. At the Amex Stadium, they resembled a team that was already ready to surrender as the game drew to a close.

This team is far from the collective that won four consecutive titles before the 2023-24 season.

United's Problems

Despite United's struggles last season, Ruben Amorim's team managed to gain four points against City, including three at the Etihad, thanks to goals in the 88th and 90th minutes.

With Mbeumo and Cunha in the lineup, United has real players capable of deciding the fate of matches.

“City may lag behind Liverpool and Arsenal, but United are too far from those two teams. Betting on their getting into the top six at odds of '1 to 1' should be avoided,” said Coral representative, Dave Stevens.

Despite this, City cannot afford to drop points, and analysts believe the odds of winning at home look quite realistic.

Bets on United are rated 18-5 with Bet MGM – this is something to consider.

“United's chances depend on Matheus Cunha's fitness, but most of the attention will be on £66 million player Benjamin Sesko, who is currently the team's biggest hope to score,” says William Hill representative, Lee Phelps.

Bruno Fernandes, United's captain, has created the most chances in the Premier League this season – 12 in just three matches.

This could be the moment the team starts to capitalize on its chances. I intend to place a bet that Fernandes will score at any moment, with the best odds of 16-5 at Coral.

Overall, City looks more vulnerable than it may seem at odds of 4-6, so I am leaning towards a United victory and both teams to score, with odds of 6-1 at William Hill, 888, and Unibet.

As practice shows, taking risks can lead to success.

'Dark Horse'

16-1: They have already demonstrated this last season when they managed to come back and defeat City at the Etihad.

Currently, there are big odds of 16-1 with BetVictor for United to repeat that trick again.

One of the best bets in my experience was that Craig Bellamy would score and celebrate with a baseball bat.

Players should be cautious when choosing themes and different game exits.

Now, as Manchester prepares for an important derby, the United and City teams find themselves in different positions at the start of the season. United are trying to restore their glory, while City needs to get their act together to maintain their lead. It will be interesting to watch their battle and whether United can wrest victory from their rivals at their home ground.
