Transport benefits for people with disabilities: who is entitled to free travel.
According to inkorr.com: In Ukraine, persons with disabilities have the right to use public transport for free. This also applies to children with special needs and one accompanying person.
Persons with disabilities can use city and suburban public transport for free if they have the appropriate certificate or document.
Extended transport benefits
Persons with disabilities of the first and second groups, as well as children with disabilities, have the opportunity to use all types of public transport, including the metro. From October 1 to May 15, they can also receive a 50% discount on tickets for domestic flights of various types of transport.
The importance of adhering to the rules
Carriers must comply with current legislation and cannot refuse to transport persons with disabilities without legal grounds. Even the absence of 'available discount seats' is not a justification for refusal. Violations of this rule are subject to fines for both drivers and transport companies.
Violations of rights and possible actions
In the case of refusal of transport, the passenger with a disability can contact the police, the Ukrtranssecurity office, or the hotline. It is also possible to appeal the refusal in court. Transport companies are required to ensure accessibility for persons with disabilities.
Thus, Ukrainians received clear explanations regarding their rights to benefits in public transport. Persons with disabilities not only have free travel but also the ability to defend their rights in case of violations by carriers.
