American bakery Cinnabon has closed two locations in Britain: what is known.
Closure of Cinnabon stores
According to The Sun: The well-known American pastry brand Cinnabon, which has 11 stores in the UK, has suddenly closed two of its locations in the city center.
The popularity of the chain has led to large queues outside its stores.
GettyBrief history of the stores
This month, Cinnabon closed two of its stores in Newcastle. The first location opened in August 2023 and quickly gained popularity — queues stretched to Grey's Monument.
On the window of one of the stores on Monday, a closure notice appeared. The sign contained the following message:
“We regret to inform you that Cinnabon will be closing its operations on Monday, September 1.
“On behalf of our entire team, we sincerely thank you for your loyalty and continued support over the years.
“It has been a pleasure serving you.”
The flagship store in Newcastle could accommodate up to 30 people and had its own production of fresh pastries.
This location occupied the space of the former Patisserie Valerie, which closed in 2019.
Closure of the Trafford Centre store has also been confirmed, which started its operations in March last year. A hand-written sign saying “closed” was hung on the store window in Deansgate, and the light was turned off during the announced hours of operation.
Social media and popularity
The brand gained attention on social media, where photos and videos of people enjoying buns were actively shared.
Cinnabon offered not only classic cream rolls but also unique flavors such as Lotus Biscoff Bon.
The Cinnabon website in the UK is currently unavailable and only displays an error code.
Now Newcastle residents will have to look for new ways to satisfy their craving for Cinnabon after the closure of the two stores.
The chain first appeared in the UK in January 2021 and currently has 11 locations, although there were 22 in 2023; unfortunately, there have been several closures over the last few years.
These closures highlight the challenges faced by the chain despite the demand. Many fans in Newcastle hope for a revival of the stores in the future or at least the emergence of a new format that can satisfy their love for Cinnabon's unique treats.
