Belarusian hackers carried out a cyberattack on Ukrainian project offices and local governments. This was reported by the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection.

The CERT-UA team recorded a surge in activity of the UAC-0057 hacker group from Belarus during July 12-18.

«The attackers used their typical combination of the PicassoLoader malware and the Cobalt Strike Beacon backdoor, sending lure documents with malicious macros», - explain the specialists.

Documents found by the State Service of Special Communications indicate the hackers' interest in financial-economic indicators, taxation, and local government reforms.

«We urge project office specialists and local government employees to be particularly vigilant and immediately contact CERT-UA if suspicious activity is detected», - the statement says.

Government websites in Slovenia and the country's president's website were victims of DDoS attacks carried out by the Russian hacker group Cyber Army Russia Reborn.
