More than 100 female footballers asked FIFA to terminate the contract with the Saudi oil company.
106 female footballers from 24 countries appealed to FIFA with a letter in which they asked to discontinue cooperation with the Saudi company Aramco due to its violation of women's and homosexuals' rights in Saudi Arabia. This company is a sponsor of the 2026 Men's World Cup and the 2027 Women's World Cup.
The footballers condemned the reputation of the ruling regime in human rights and called the FIFA contract with Aramco a 'blow to women's football'.
Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo has become the highest-paid footballer in the world for the 2024/25 season, earning $285 million. He surpassed another forward, Lionel Messi, who earned $135 million, and Neymar, whose salaries amount to $110 million.
According to Forbes, the ten highest-paid footballers in the world will earn $983 million in the 2024/25 season. Most of this sum goes to players from clubs in Saudi Arabia.
