Scandal Surrounding Ohmatdyt's Repairs: Charity Foundation Refuses to Transfer Funds to the Hospital's Accounts

A new scandal has erupted around the repair of the National Children's Specialized Hospital "Ohmatdyt" following a Russian missile strike. The charity foundation "Ohmatdyt – Healthy Childhood" refuses to transfer 378 million hryvnias of collected funds to the hospital's official accounts.

General Director of "Ohmatdyt" Volodymyr Zhovnir stated that communication between the hospital and the charity foundation worsened after the cancellation of the repair tender in July. "Today's actions by the foundation confirmed that we have completely different visions of how the hospital should be restored. This morning, we learned that the CF "Charity Foundation Ohmatdyt – Healthy Childhood" does not plan to transfer funds to the account of the NCSH "Ohmatdyt"", Zhovnir said.

The hospital is considering severing legal relations with the foundation and intends to "move in the legal field" to obtain the funds. Instead, the charity foundation states that it is ready to fund any urgent need of the hospital, but "we have not received a single letter from Ohmatdyt hospital about any such targeted need during all this Time".

The foundation also states that it needs legal grounds to transfer funds to treasury accounts without designation, as this could entail criminal liability.

Minister of Health Viktor Liashko reported that law enforcement agencies are already at work. According to him, a Ministry of Health commission has been created to verify the facts reported in the media regarding the unapproved dubious tender and the compiled defect act about the building's damage. Additionally, the National Police has started an investigation into possible attempts to embezzle funds, and the NABU is conducting analytical work.

Liashko also noted that the Ministry of Health continues to form a supervisory board, which will oversee the restoration process of "Ohmatdyt". The minister expressed confidence that the issue with funds will be resolved with the help of law enforcement agencies.

Clash of Opinions Between Charity Foundation and Hospital

Regarding the charity foundation's objections about the lack of legal grounds for transferring funds, Liashko responded: "Their lawyers worked with our lawyers. Their lawyers were satisfied with everything".

The minister added that some aspects of the situation are still being evaluated, and additional news on this matter should be expected.
