5 ways to stay warm at home in winter
Property expert Joshua Houston shared his tips.
1. Curtains
“Windows are a common place for cold air from outside to enter your home through tiny gaps that can let air in, so always close your curtains as soon as it gets dark,” he said.
This simple method provides an additional layer of warmth and acts as a sort of “insulation” between the window and the curtains.
2. Rugs
“Your floor is another part of your home where heat can be lost and make your home feel cold,” he continued. “You probably noticed on chilly days that the floor feels cold under your feet.
“Add rugs in areas that lack coverage, they provide an insulating layer between the bare floor and the room.”
3. Check your insulation
Inspect the pipes, attic, basement, and space under the floor.
“Loose-fill insulation is very good for this and is a more affordable option, a large bag can be purchased for about £30,” explained Joshua.
4. Keep your interior doors closed
“Family members often gather in one room in the evening, usually the kitchen or living room,” said Joshua.
“This means you only need to heat a small area of your home, and closing doors helps keep warmth in and cold out.”
5. Block drafts
“Don’t forget to check cat flaps, chimneys, and mailboxes as they can let in cold air if not properly sealed.”In the context of declining temperatures, it is essential to choose heating methods that are not only effective but also economical. In the new product line from B&M, users can find comfortable solutions for the winter period without spending extra money. Expert Joshua Houston's recommendations also highlight the importance of energy efficiency and proper insulation of rooms, which can significantly reduce electricity costs.
