SBU Officer and Dog Bars Set National Record: 1000 Meters in 3 Minutes 56 Seconds.
Canine Team Competition
According to Espreso.tv: Fifteen teams from various security agencies recently took part in a race designed to test the endurance and coordination of handler-dog pairs over a 1000-meter distance. A total of 30 canine units had the chance to showcase their skills and level of preparedness.
The winning duo consisted of a Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) officer and his dog, Bars. They completed the course in an impressive 3 minutes and 56 seconds. This achievement was officially recognized by a representative of the Book of Records of Ukraine, highlighting the significance of the result.
Participant Comments
Andriy Syvenko, one of the competitors, noted that 'what was really missing was a federation for military canine sports with a military focus.' He emphasized that for participants, this race is a chance to test themselves and their battle companions—the dogs they work with on service and combat missions.
"They told me to go, so I went and got the result. We're always ready to work on the spot. The toughest part for the dog was the heat. But after the race, we'll go swim in the Dnipro, and everything will be fine."
Race Winner
The All-Ukrainian Federation of Military Canine Sports plans to make these competitions a regular event, which will help develop and refine the skills of canine teams across Ukraine.
Beyond highlighting the importance of training for service tasks, these races also strengthen cooperation between different security agencies. Regular events like this could become an effective tool for improving the qualifications of handlers and their four-legged partners, ultimately boosting national security.
