A two-year-old boy lost his arm while on an escalator in a shopping center. His mother briefly lost sight of her son when he stepped onto the moving stairs, which severed his right arm and lower part of his shoulder. The boy was rushed to the hospital, but doctors were unable to reattach his arm after the horrific incident. Authorities are currently investigating how the bloody injury occurred - they have even opened a criminal case. It is reported that the mother briefly turned away from him - she saw the boy leaning and putting his hand into the escalator mechanism. A pharmacist named Anastasia, who rushed to help at the Botanical shopping center in Yekaterinburg, Russia, said: 'I heard screams, ran there, and saw the boy standing there with his arm severed.' The tragic boy 'was crying ... he was conscious.' A man 'applied first aid to the arm' while medics arrived on the scene. Anastasia added: 'I gave the doctors ice for transporting [the severed limb].' Attempts by doctors to reattach the arm were unsuccessful due to the damage, media reports. A distraught father said: 'Our son is in the ICU, we are not allowed to see him yet. The Russian Investigative Committee is questioning witnesses as part of the criminal case. While at the shopping center, the two-year-old boy lost his arm on the escalator, leading to a criminal investigation and attempts by doctors to save the arm. This is a horrific event that has resulted in serious consequences for the child and his family.
