Ex-members of The Police sue Sting: millions of pounds for unpaid royalties

According to The Sun: The musician Sting is being sued for millions of pounds over lost royalties by his former bandmates from The Police.

73-year-old Sting is being sued for lost royalties by Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland, with whom he was a former partner in the band The Police. The lawsuit for a large compensation sum was filed after prolonged legal battles.

Representatives of the musicians noted that they tried to resolve the conflict out of court, but unsuccessfully. So now the matter will be resolved by the court in London under general commercial terms. The band The Police, founded in 1977, broke up in the mid-1980s after successfully selling millions of records worldwide, including the hit Every Breath You Take, which is recorded in history as one of the best-selling singles of 1983 and the fifth most popular of the decade.

It is noted that musicians Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland decided to take the legal route in an attempt to resolve the issue of lost royalties from their participation in The Police due to unresolved disputes. Currently, the case has been referred to the High Court in London for resolution.
