Rachel Reeves' budget threatens the closure of thousands of shops in Britain.
The threat of closing corner shops and family bakeries in Britain
According to The Sun: Corner shops and family bakeries in Britain may be on the brink of closure due to the budget proposed by Chancellor Rachel Reeves. This was reported by the Association of Convenience Stores, stating that changes in business rates do not provide adequate support to cover rising costs.
According to the association's data, a typical convenience store with a cost of £30,000 will see its annual bill rise from £8,982.
“We need more substantial help, otherwise we risk losing many businesses,” said representatives of the association.
Against the backdrop of consistently rising business costs, it is important to provide support to local traders so they can continue their operations.
The situation with corner shops and bakeries illustrates a broader challenge facing businesses in Britain. Without adequate government support, these vital elements of the local economy may be at risk of disappearing, which would not only impact jobs but also the availability of goods for local communities.
