Djokovic, 38, reached the eighth round of the US Open for the 16th time.

The Serb complained of back pain and requested medical assistance after nine games but managed to overcome the physical difficulties and finish the match in the fourth set. On the court, he admitted:

“You have your ups and downs.”

“You don't want to reveal too much in front of opponents who are listening and watching this interview.”

“I'm fine, as never before, still strong. Yes, this is New York. Even if you feel something, the energy on this court outweighs everything.”

Norrie, summarizing his game, told BBC:

“I started great in the third set, but maybe I was a bit overindulgent after the break.”

“He figured out how to play, tried hard, and in the end turned out to be too strong.”

Djokovic spent two hours and 49 minutes on the match, finishing his game on ESPN.

He also openly talked about his health problems:

“Well, to be honest, I’m concerned. Right now, I’m more worried than ever.”

Norrie could not take advantage of Djokovic's health issues.

“Even if I take good care of my body and spend a lot of time preparing it to be in good shape, age is something you cannot fight against.”

“Sometimes I don’t train between matches because our team thinks it’s better to focus on recovery in the long term than just hitting balls on the court.”

“So, maybe that will be the case tomorrow too. We need to discuss that, focus on recovery, and prepare for the next match.”

Norrie became the last British player in the men’s singles tournament after Jack Draper withdrew before the second round, and Yakiv Fearnley lost in the second round to Alexander Zverev. Billy Harris also failed to get past the first round against Felix Auger-Aliassime.

This is already the second time this year that Norrie has lost to Djokovic at a Grand Slam, after a defeat at Roland Garros.

Elimination of Raducanu

Earlier on the same day, former US Open champion Emma Raducanu lost 6-1, 6-2 to former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.

The Kazakh easily registered 23 winners in 15 games at Louis Armstrong Stadium.

After the match, Raducanu noted:

“When the best players play against me, they want to prove they are on top — and not without reason.”

“I think every time I play against one of them, they showcase that.”

“At the same time, while I am improving, honing my skills, and probably gaining more respect, top players have really upped their game.”

“But I take this as a compliment that they decided to play at their best against me. However, this shows that I still have a lot of work ahead.”

Emma Raducanu lost to Elena Rybakina in just 62 minutes.

These defeats of British tennis players at the US Open reflect the challenges faced by young stars on the international stage. Both Norrie and Raducanu showed a fighting spirit, but their opponents proved stronger at critical moments. This tournament enriched their experience and will certainly stimulate them in future competitions, as it's important to continue working on their weaknesses and improving their game.
