Unfortunately, the criticism from Keane and Neville comes against the backdrop of inconsistent performances from Manchester United under Erik ten Hag's management. Keane noted that Fernandes lacks elements of team leadership.
Keane said: “Bruno is trying to show initiative, but it’s merely sound bites at the moment. True good teammates hold each other to account. They are not teammates, they are bluffers.”
Neville criticized Fernandes' style of play, stating: “I think about Bruno Fernandes, and I watched him on Sunday. He is undoubtedly the most talented, but he’s everywhere. Maybe he’s being told to do what he wants. I don't think Bruno is that kind of player.”
Fernandes Defends Himself
However, Bruno does not pay attention to the negative feedback and believes that everyone has the right to their opinion about him. He emphasized that people should get to know him better before making conclusions.
Fernandes said: “People have their opinions about me, and I cannot change that... But I do not judge people until I know them better.”
Fernandes also noted that the diversity of opinions makes life more interesting and rich.
Keane and Neville’s comments highlight the challenging situation at Manchester United, where the team seeks stability. Fernandes, for his part, continues to stand firm, emphasizing the importance of open dialogue and understanding criticism as part of the professional journey. All eyes are now on how the 'Red Devils' will overcome these challenges on the pitch.
