According to inkorr.com: In the draft State Budget for 2026, funding for programs for veterans will increase by 6.1 billion UAH compared to 2025, reaching 17.9 billion UAH. This was reported by Taras Tarasenko, the deputy head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Social Policy and Veterans' Rights Protection.

Main areas of funding

The budget increase will cover all main areas of veteran policy. The largest portion, 5.7 billion UAH, is planned to be allocated for housing compensation for veterans with disabilities of Group I and II, which is 1.7 billion UAH more than in 2024. 4 billion UAH will be allocated for supporting veterans in comprehensive activities, which will be used for psychological assistance, professional adaptation, the development of veteran sports, project support, and one-time cash assistance. This is 2.6 billion UAH more than before.

'Veterans are not a separate category of citizens, but part of modern Ukrainian society, shaped by their courage. Therefore, state policy is aimed at ensuring that every veteran has the opportunity to return to a full life, realize their potential, and feel worthy support from the state and the community,' said the deputy.

Additional expenses for supporting veterans

In addition, 2.9 billion UAH (up 0.9 billion) is allocated for the maintenance of specialists who assist veterans. To create and develop veteran spaces, 1.1 billion UAH is allocated, which is 0.6 billion more than in previous years. Taras Tarasenko emphasized that the goal of the state is to transform veteran policy from a set of benefits into a system of opportunities. The increased funding for the 2026 budget indicates a growing attention to the needs of veterans; however, the effectiveness of coordination and the systematic implementation of programs remain crucial.

The growth of funding for veteran programs by 6.1 billion UAH in 2026 reflects the increasing attention of the state to the support of veterans. Significant funds will be allocated for housing compensation, psychological support, sports development, and professional adaptation. However, it is important to ensure proper coordination in the implementation of programs for the benefit of veterans and their families.
