The cafe from the show Happy Valley has closed permanently: what is known.
Closure of the cafe known from the BBC show
According to The Sun: The cafe, which became popular due to the BBC hit, has unexpectedly closed its doors.
There was an announcement about its closure on the windows of the establishment.
BBCAmico Cafe in Bolton, UK, gained fame thanks to a scene from the BBC drama 'Happy Valley'.
Fans would come to the cafe to sit at the table where their favorite moments were filmed, and the establishment even offered a sandwich named after the show.
However, on the Amico Facebook page, it was announced that the cafe is 'permanently closed'.
The establishment's website and phone number are also no longer available.
On the windows of the cafe, it simply states: 'Business closed.'
No explanations regarding the closure are provided on Amico's social media.
This restaurant became popular after the filming of one of the show's most iconic scenes.
Although the events of the show take place in Yorkshire, filming was done in various locations across the UK, including Bolton.
The scene was filmed in a cafe that was supposedly located in Sheffield, but is actually situated in the heart of Bolton, where the character Catherine, played by Sarah Lancashire, encounters her sister Claire (Siobhan Finneran).
In this cafe, Catherine reveals her sister's help in allowing her grandson Ryan to visit his father in prison.
Fans would come to the cafe to sit at the same table as the characters, as the Amico manager noted.
He even stated that visitors would come from all over the UK.
Manager John Cavanagh told Manchester Evening News: 'It had a big impact. You don't realize how big it is until time passes.'
'Yesterday we were on Lorraine for just three minutes, and after that, we got too many visitors... it was chaos!'
'But it's good for business and gives people a chance to connect, laugh, and it gives us something to talk about with people in the community.'
He also noted that many people wrote about it being 'their favorite show' and were happy to sit at the same table where Catherine sat.
'It's nice, and people want to have such a memory. If we can create that atmosphere, it's a kind of bonus.'
The growing interest in the cafe among fans even led to the appearance of a 'Happy Valley' sandwich on the menu.
The sandwich consisted of ciabatta filled with ham, mozzarella, pesto, red pepper, chicken, prosciutto, and arugula.
The dish cost £8.95 and was served with salad and fries.
The closure of such a popular establishment has sparked lively discussions among fans of the show. Amico Cafe became not just a lunch spot but a true cultural symbol, attracting attention and interest from people all over the UK. Such establishments may remain in memory due to their unique stories, making the closure of Amico a significant loss for the local community and fans of 'Happy Valley.'
