This event is a significant part of the carnival program where a title fight for the undisputed super middleweight champion will take place between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford.

Walsh is also promoted by Dana White, the UFC president, and recalls how he met Ricci at one of Jon Jones' fights.

The couple took a photo together and met again after Walsh's next fight, believing that the UFC truly brought them together.

“I was in the back, warming up, just relaxing,” said Walsh on The Casual Experts podcast.
“And the UFC came up to me and said: ‘Tabatha Ricci wants to wish you good luck before your fight.’”

“I said: ‘Yeah, cool.’ But they told her I asked her to come in to talk to her. I only just found out about that recently.”

That evening, they talked, and their relationship began to develop. Now, they live and train together in Los Angeles.

“It's much easier than if I was with a regular person,” noted Walsh.

“Tabatha understands my career, and what I need to do, and I understand what she needs to do.”

Walsh admits that Ricci is the chef in their duo, cooking delicious Brazilian dishes and trying to master traditional Irish shepherd’s pie.

Moreover, the competitive nature of their relationship helps him stay in shape.

“If I need to go for a run, but I don’t want to, and I see her doing it, I just think: ‘Now I have to go.’”

Walsh has had a winding path in his career, and his main goal is to fight Vargas—the son of a former world champion.

Vargas recently started a war of words on social media, involving Ricci in their conflict.

“There’s some bad blood, but I don’t know where it came from!”

Walsh is confident that this trash talk will ultimately backfire on Vargas.

“I think all that talk isn’t good when you get knocked out,” warned Walsh.

Walsh believes his career is just beginning, and a victory over Vargas will be just the first step toward greater achievements.

“I feel like I’m destined for big wins in this sport, and this fight is just one of the stages for me.”
