Cousins Win at Shanghai Masters: Tennis Player Falls off Stage During Speech.
According to The Sun: Tennis star Arthur Rinderknech suffered after losing to his cousin Valentin Vachero in an historic final at the Shanghai Masters.
Vachero, who ranks 204th in the world, unexpectedly reached the final by winning throughout the tournament, including defeating Novak Djokovic in the semifinals.

This emotional match ended with hugs between relatives after Rinderknech won the second semifinal. Vachero, 26, previously had only one ATP tournament victory, but managed to make a comeback in the final, winning 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, and became the lowest-ranked Masters 1000 champion in tennis history.
After the victory, the cousins embraced, and Vachero wrote on the television camera lens: “Grandma and Grandpa would be proud.” They also expressed words of gratitude to each other during the awards ceremony.
However, when Vachero, whose ranking will soar an incredible 164 spots to 40th, was speaking into the microphone, Rinderknech, who awkwardly lost his balance, fell off the back of the stage.
He was experiencing physical difficulties during the match, which eventually led to this fall. Commentators speculated that he might have had cramps, but Vachero humorously reacted to the situation:
“I think we need help, please!”
Tennis stars following in parents' footsteps
Speaking of pressure...
These stars are just starting their journey in tennis.
But one thing unites them – they have famous parents who also achieved success in sports.
So who of these players hopes to follow in the footsteps of their tennis parents?
- My dad is one of the best tennis players in history… but he is not my idol
- My mom won the US Open at 16 and then Wimbledon… but you probably wouldn't know that from my last name
- My Czech dad won the Australian Open, and my sisters are elite golfers… but I play for another country
- My millionaire dad played with Federer… but I reached three Grand Slam finals
- My father made £1m and reached the French Open final… but I have already surpassed his career
- My record-setting father is in the tennis Hall of Fame and won Wimbledon… but I am trying to match his achievements
The physiotherapist quickly arrived to assist Rinderknech, massaging his leg.
A shocked Vachero, caught by his girlfriend Emily Snyder among the spectators, said: “I’m just in tears, this is just unreal.”
“What happened? I have no idea what's going on right now.”
“I'm not dreaming, this is just madness.”
“I am so happy with my game over the last two weeks, I just want to thank everyone who has contributed to my career from the very beginning.”
“Being co-participants in the final was very tough, there has to be one winner, but I guess today there are two winners – one family has won, and I think for tennis this story is just unreal.”
“I wish there were two winners, but unfortunately, there is only one, and for me, it’s good that it’s me.”

Vachero, marking his victory, said he will greatly miss his cousin, who, despite the loss, played a great match. This is testament to how tennis brings people together, even in moments of rivalry. This story of family support and sports, filled with emotions and transformations, will be long remembered by tennis lovers.
