NBA champion was scared to play in Russia due to Ukrainian drone attacks.
National Basketball Association (NBA) champion Quinndary Weatherspoon refused to fly to Saratov, a city in Russia, to play for the local basketball team. The reason for the refusal was the arrival of Ukrainian drones. This is reported by Russian propaganda resources.
Weatherspoon signed a contract with the Saratov basketball club named "Avtodor" in August this year. However, he has already missed several flights to Russia and stopped responding to calls from team representatives. In connection with this, the club management decided to sue him.
Recently, there was a hit by a multirotor unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) at the "Volga Sky" residential complex in Saratov. It was in this building that the team rented accommodation for Weatherspoon. This incident scared the basketball player, and he decided to rethink moving to Russia.
In 2022, the 27-year-old Weatherspoon became an NBA champion playing for the "Golden State" team.
Let us also recall that Russian cyclists were suspended from participating in the European Championship.
