Border Queues with the EU on June 1: Where Vehicle Congestion Is Worst.
Ukraine's Border Situation
According to Novyny.live: On June 1, queues formed at checkpoints along Ukraine's borders with Poland, Slovakia, and Hungary. The heaviest traffic jam was recorded at the Ustyluh checkpoint, where 40 passenger cars were waiting at the time of inspection. However, pedestrian crossings were not allowed at this point.
Congestion was also observed at other checkpoints. At the Uzhhorod checkpoint, 10 passenger cars were reported, but no buses or pedestrians were permitted to cross. At the Tysa checkpoint, the line consisted of 6 passenger cars, with no buses or pedestrians. Meanwhile, at the Yahodyn and Malyi Bereznyi checkpoints, there were no passenger cars, buses, or pedestrians. The situation was similar at the Diakove checkpoint, where no vehicles were recorded.
Analysis of the Situation
As of June 1, border queues remain a pressing issue in Ukraine, particularly on routes to Poland, Slovakia, and Hungary.
This border activity may reflect a rise in passenger traffic, likely tied to the start of the summer season when many people travel abroad. At the same time, the suspension of pedestrian crossings at key checkpoints could disrupt travel plans for those entering or leaving the country, potentially creating additional challenges for travelers.
