Ultimately, after all the turmoil, Hankinson decided to move to Leeds on loan, becoming one of 18 players to leave the club after turning down previously made offers.
“I lost all trust in these owners,” recalls Hankinson. “I felt like there was no way out.”
His situation was complicated: he couldn't secure a new contract due to the club's financial troubles and was also trying to get a mortgage for a new house. The uncertainty over payments added to the stress.
“I thought, ‘I want this circus to end. If I don’t get paid, at least I can look for other opportunities,’” shares the player.
Hankinson was stunned by Khaliha and Brown's claims about their “sacrifices” and negative attitudes towards the Super League.
Now, preparing for future victories, Hankinson notes: “It’s a great relief.”
