Sir Chris Hoy will present the world champion trophy in darts during chemotherapy.
Presentation of the Sid Waddell Cup
According to The Sun: Sir Chris Hoy will once again present the Sid Waddell Cup to the winner of the darts world championship on Saturday evening. The six-time Olympic cycling champion, who is 49 years old, learned about his diagnosis - stage four prostate cancer - in early September 2023. Information about his condition only became public a year later.
Hoy is currently undergoing chemotherapy after doctors informed him of a limited life expectancy.
“I thank everyone for their support, I really appreciate it,” said Chris Hoy.
This event is not only a significant moment in the world of darts, but also a testament to Chris Hoy's courage and resilience in the fight against a serious illness. His presence at the championship will add special meaning, as he has become a symbol of hope and a zest for life in the face of the challenges he has encountered.
