The price of a popular product reached 93 hryvnias: where grains are cheaper.


Analysis of prices in leading retail chains in Ukraine showed significant fluctuations in the cost of basic food products. The largest discrepancies were recorded in the price of grains, where the difference between the cheapest and most expensive offers can exceed 40 hryvnias per kilogram.
According to price monitoring data as of June 29, 2025, the largest price variation is observed for round rice. In the Metro chain, a kilogram costs 50.70 hryvnias, while in Novus and Auchan, the price reaches 93 hryvnias per kilogram. The average price of round rice is 73.87 hryvnias per kilogram.
Prices for different types of grains and pasta
Long rice demonstrates smaller fluctuations: from 49.50 hryvnias in Metro to 70.20 hryvnias in Auchan. The average cost of this type of grain is 58.50 hryvnias per kilogram. Steamed rice averages 54.10 hryvnias, with the lowest price being 49.90 hryvnias in Metro.
Prices for buckwheat in retail chains
Buckwheat shows moderate price discrepancies between retail chains. The average price is 34.10 hryvnias per kilogram. The best place to buy buckwheat is Auchan - 29.90 hryvnias per kilogram, and the most expensive is Megamarket - 43.20 hryvnias.
Experts note that retail chains use different pricing strategies, leading to significant discrepancies in the cost of identical goods. Consumers are advised to compare prices in different supermarkets before making purchases, especially when buying large quantities of products.
