Diesel Fuel Price Decline in Ukraine

According to Espreso.tv: Serhiy Kuyun has reported a drop in diesel fuel prices across Ukraine, while noting that gasoline has not experienced a similar trend. The cost of diesel has fallen by 14.5 hryvnias per liter, offering welcome relief for consumers. In early May 2023, diesel prices hit peak levels, having surged by 30 hryvnias due to a crisis. Since then, all major retail chains now offer diesel below 80 hryvnias per liter, and further reductions of 4–5 hryvnias are expected within the next week to ten days.

Serhiy Kuyun commented:

“Things are going very well. The price continues to fall.” — Serhiy Kuyun

He also emphasized that “it’s already clear that this is going to happen.”

Gasoline Market Situation

Gasoline, however, has not seen any price cuts, as global gasoline prices remain stable. “The process is stalling for gasoline because it’s not getting cheaper worldwide,” Kuyun added. He also noted that “overall, as our analysis shows, prices in Ukraine move almost exactly in line with those at pumps in Europe and the United States.”

The decline in diesel prices could positively impact Ukraine’s economy, particularly by lowering transportation costs for goods and public utilities. Yet the lack of a similar reduction for gasoline may create an imbalance in the fuel market, potentially affecting consumer sentiment. The fuel price situation remains dynamic, with future fluctuations likely tied to global oil prices and domestic fuel demand.
