Blueberry prices have doubled: why farmers are dissatisfied.
According to inkorr.com: According to the data from the 'APK-Inform' agency, this year blueberry prices in Ukraine have nearly doubled. However, many farmers are dissatisfied with the season's results.
Blueberry prices in 2023
This year, the blueberry season started with prices ranging from 300 to 450 hryvnias per kilogram and ended at the level of 200 to 270 hryvnias. During the peak sales period, the price was 100 to 150 hryvnias per kilogram.
Reasons for farmers' dissatisfaction
Experts point out several reasons why farmers are dissatisfied with the situation. Among them are rising production costs, the presence of low-quality berries on the market, a decrease in the number of buyers due to the war, and the influence of imports. Anna Dombrovska, the founder of the 'Fruit Garden' company, explained that this year's weather conditions led to significant losses among Transcarpathian producers who are the first to enter the market.
As a result, Ukrainian farmers express dissatisfaction due to increased production costs and a reduction in buyers due to external factors. Such a situation could negatively impact the agricultural sector of Ukraine as a whole.
The state of Ukrainian farmers this season highlights the difficult situation in the agricultural market, where the war and imports significantly affect the competitiveness of domestic products. In the context of rising costs and changing demand, it's important to find solutions that will help stabilize the market and support farmers in these challenging times.
