Fuel Prices in Odesa Surge Amid Middle East Tensions.
Why Fuel Prices Are Rising in Odesa
According to Novyny.live: A sharp escalation of tensions in the Middle East has triggered a significant increase in fuel prices in Odesa. This overnight price hike of several hryvnias reflects a nationwide trend across Ukraine, driven by global market instability. The situation highlights how geopolitical events far from Ukraine can directly impact local economies.
Average fuel prices rose across all major fuel types in Ukraine over a single day. Diesel saw the largest jump, increasing by 2.73 UAH per liter. Gasoline A-95 rose by 2.46 UAH, A-95+ by 2.17 UAH, and A-92 by 2.00 UAH, while autogas (LPG) increased by 0.51 UAH. The current national average prices are as follows:
- A-95+ - 69.56 UAH
- A-95 - 65.06 UAH
- A-92 - 61.99 UAH
- Diesel - 64.96 UAH
- Autogas (LPG) - 38.21 UAH per liter
This price pressure was further intensified by an attack on Monday, February 2nd, when two drones targeted the Ras Tanura Saudi Aramco oil refinery complex in Saudi Arabia.

Therefore, the price surge in Odesa is part of a broader national trend, caused by external factors disrupting the global oil products market.
The rise in fuel costs across Ukraine, particularly in Odesa, underscores the vulnerability of the oil market to geopolitical risks, as seen with the ongoing instability in the Middle East.
Attacks on oil infrastructure in Saudi Arabia create additional upward pressure on prices, as major exporters may consider limiting supplies amid security threats. This increase in fuel costs is likely to have a knock-on effect, raising prices for goods and services throughout Ukraine due to the essential role of fuel in logistics and transportation.
