Ukrainian Wheat Prices Plummet: How Much Does a Ton Cost Now?.
Wheat Market in Ukraine
According to Novyny.live: Trading activity has stalled in Ukraine’s wheat market as participants await the upcoming harvest, leading to a downward trend in prices. As of June 8, a metric ton of wheat is valued at 10,006 hryvnias—a drop of 60 hryvnias compared to June 4. The highest average price of 10,086 hryvnias was recorded on June 2.
Economist and advisor to the President of Ukraine, Oleh Ustenko, warns that the world is heading toward a major agricultural crisis.
The declining wheat prices in Ukraine reflect both local dynamics and broader global challenges in the farming sector. The anticipation of fresh supplies from the new harvest is likely reducing transaction volumes, which could threaten the financial stability of agricultural enterprises. Given the risk of famine in certain African nations, Ukraine’s market situation may become a critical factor in global food supply chains, influencing international wheat prices and availability.
Ustenko further notes that by 2027, famine could erupt in several African countries.
