NAZK: officials declared cryptocurrency worth nearly 800 million hryvnias.
According to inkorr.com: The National Agency for Prevention of Corruption (NAZK) reported an increase in cases where officials indicate cryptocurrency in their declarations.
Declarations with crypto assets
According to the Register of Declarations, last year 2.2 thousand submitted reports contained information about crypto assets totaling 786 million hryvnias. The number of declarants reporting the presence of funds in cryptocurrency is growing every year.
As of 2024, 2.2 thousand declarations contained information about cryptocurrency worth 786 million UAH
The specified amount includes several consecutive years of growth: for 2022 – by 371 million UAH, for 2023 – by 526 million UAH.
Issues with declarations
The NAZK notes that some declarants are trying to use cryptocurrency to 'conceal' illegally obtained funds. Among the most common violations in declarations are the inability to confirm the existence of cryptocurrency and the provision of false data about assets and their characteristics.
Thus, despite the increase in the number of officials who include cryptocurrency in their declarations, there are still cases of using this mechanism to conceal funds obtained illegally. This highlights the importance of strengthening control over declarations and ensuring transparency in the financial operations of public servants.
