After the holidays: why power outages have become more frequent in Ukraine.
According to ТСН: After the holidays, Ukrainians are once again facing stricter power outage schedules.
Reasons for reduced electricity supply
DTEK explained why electricity has become less accessible in homes. During the holidays, energy workers managed to provide more stable electricity supply as businesses and industries were not operating at full capacity, and most people stayed at home, evenly using electricity throughout the day.
Return to normal operation
Starting Monday, January 5, enterprises and industrial facilities resumed their normal operations. As a result, electricity consumption increased. Meanwhile, the equipment that ensures electricity supply has not yet been restored, and the energy deficit remains.
Impact of weather on electricity consumption
Additional outages are also caused by worsening weather conditions. In some regions, temperatures drop to minus 11 degrees, increasing the load on electrical networks due to the active use of heaters.
“Energy workers are currently focused on distributing the available electricity as evenly as possible among people and repairing damaged facilities. Thank you for your resilience and understanding.”
Currently, an increase in outages is expected in Ukraine due to a sharp drop in temperature, so consumers are advised to prepare for possible outages in advance and use electricity sparingly. Energy workers are working on restoring stability in electricity supply, but the situation requires patience and cooperation from all consumers.
