At the time of the incident, the 40-year-old Ronaldo was leaving the hotel under the watch of many fans who greeted him.
The captain of Al-Nassr often faces such situations as his popularity grows every day.
However, he usually shows kindness to fans, even allowing them to take pictures on the pitch before they are escorted away.
This incident occurred on the eve of the match between Portugal and Armenia in the World Cup qualifying.
Ronaldo has already played his 222nd match for the national team, scoring two goals in a 5-0 victory at the Vazgen Sargsyan Stadium.
He scored the first goal in the 21st minute, symbolically corresponding to the number worn by his teammate Diogo Jota.
This number is now worn by Ruben Neves, who took it in honor of Jota.
Unfortunately, Jota died in a car accident in July in Zamora, Spain.
Neves and Jota were close friends during their time together at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Both became part of the Wolves team that returned to the Premier League in 2018.
Neves also honored Jota’s memory by getting a tattoo of their embrace on his leg.
Joao Cancelo also honored Jota’s memory by celebrating his goal in a way that replicated Jota's iconic celebration from video games.
Former Arsenal player Nuno Tavares stated after the match that Jota was in their thoughts.
“We are all very happy, as it shows that he [Jota] is with us, that he was there, and that the moment when Ronaldo scored was possible.”
“He will always be with us, as was evident today.”
Thus, Ronaldo’s two goals increased his overall tally to 140 goals for the national team, solidifying his status as the highest-scoring player in international football history.
In addition, he reached 38 goals in World Cup qualifying, surpassing Lionel Messi, who has 36.
At the same time, Ronaldo remains one goal away from the record of Carlos Ruiz, who scored 39 for Guatemala.
