Cyberattack on Marks & Spencer: millions in losses and halt of online sales.
MARKS & SPENCER's profits sharply declined due to cyberattack
According to The Sun: MARKS & SPENCER's profits dropped by more than half after a cyberattack forced it to stop accepting orders through its website. This resulted in a loss of £324 million in sales.
Halting online sales
The traditional retailer halted its online operations in home and fashion apparel for approximately six weeks when hackers attacked the company during the Easter holiday period. Due to failures in logistical systems, store shelves were left empty, and sales of fashion apparel fell significantly.
‘We have taken all necessary measures to ensure the security of our systems and customer data’.
The company's restaurants and stores also felt the impact of the cyberattack, as their business faced serious difficulties without online sales. The company is trying to restore its normal operations, but it still has many security and customer trust issues to resolve.
