Danish Foreign Minister in the US: 'Any intervention is unacceptable'

According to inkorr.com: Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen summoned a senior American diplomat in Copenhagen due to information about secret operations conducted by American citizens in Greenland.

According to the Danish state broadcaster DR, Denmark's intelligence is concerned about 'various types of influence campaigns' in Greenland.

'Any attempt to interfere in the internal affairs of the Kingdom [of Denmark] will, of course, be unacceptable'

As a reminder, US President Donald Trump expressed intentions to annex Greenland, but the Danish side clearly stated that this is unacceptable.

US Vice President Jay D. Vance accused the Danish government of insufficient investment in Greenland, however, the Danish authorities emphasize the island's right to determine its own fate.

Greenland and Denmark: Complicated Relations

Greenland, which has significant autonomy, still formulates its foreign and defense policy through Copenhagen. The island is becoming the target of various influence campaigns, although most of its population does not support the idea of annexation.

Experts believe that the actions of the Danish authorities indicate a refusal of any interference in the affairs of Greenland and a desire to maintain the autonomy and independent choice of its residents.

The situation surrounding Greenland highlights the complexity of relations between Denmark and the island. Despite the freedom in governance, the influence of international interests remains significant. A refusal to interfere in Greenland's internal affairs could establish new rules of the game in the region, which both Danish and local authorities advocate for.
