Tomatoes in Ukraine Have Sharply Increased in Price: Experts Named Reasons for the Price Rise

According to inkorr.com: The Ukrainian greenhouse tomato market has been experiencing a product shortage for the third week, leading to rising prices. Experts from EastFruit note that the lack of goods forces producers to raise tomato prices.

Prices for Greenhouse Tomatoes

The average price of greenhouse tomatoes today is 80-90 UAH/kg ($1.91-2.15), which is 14% higher than at the end of last week. Analysts link the price increase to unstable supplies and low product volumes.

According to market participants, some farms have already completed the sale of their current turnover, while others observe the slow ripening of crops due to cooling. Supplies from greenhouse farms have practically stopped, and imported products cannot yet compensate for the shortage.

Comparison with Last Year

Compared to October 2024, prices for greenhouse tomatoes have increased by 22%. Producers do not rule out the possibility of further price increases due to stable demand, as the supply from local enterprises is limited.

Consumers in Ukraine are facing a shortage of greenhouse tomatoes, which leads to an increase in prices for vegetables that are already 14% more expensive than last week. Experts indicate that the price increase may continue, particularly due to the slow ripening of crops and the halt of supplies from greenhouse farms.

This price increase for greenhouse tomatoes indicates serious problems in Ukraine's agriculture. The product shortage could lead to even greater difficulties for consumers. In the context of climate change and irregular supplies, it is important to closely monitor the market situation and the corresponding response from producers.
