Zelensky's Birthday: Interesting Facts About the President's Life (photos).
Today, January 25, is the birthday of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky: it is already his sixth year in office and the third under the conditions of a full-scale invasion by Russia.
Volodymyr Oleksandrovych became the youngest president in the history of Ukraine, but his tenure has faced the most difficult challenges for both Ukraine and its leader.
In the past year, the head of state has repeatedly visited Ukrainian soldiers on the front lines, as well as leaders of other countries (including the USA) to achieve peace in Ukraine.
Childhood
The future president was born in 1978 in Kryvyi Rih. He grew up in his grandmother's apartment in one of the remote areas and attended kindergarten there.
According to his grandmother, Volodymyr was already the 'life of the party' back then and often loved to attract the attention of his peers. As a child, he was very talented and active: he engaged in music, weightlifting, dance, and even collected stamps.
He spent four years of childhood in the city of Erdenet in Mongolia, where his mother worked as an engineer, and his father, a scientist, was involved in the construction of a mining and processing plant.
Volodymyr Zelensky finished the first grade in Mongolia and then returned to his native Kryvyi Rih with his family. He studied well, although he was mischievous and sometimes skipped classes.
The future entertainer loved mathematics, but he never excelled at it, which earned him scolding from his father, a cybernetics expert. The boy was better at the humanities: he dreamed of becoming a diplomat but later chose to study law.
Politics is not an exact science. That's why I loved mathematics in school. In mathematics, everything was clear to me.
Youth and Creative Path
After finishing his studies with two 'b's, Zelensky went to obtain a legal education at the Kyiv National Economic University. At 17, he was noticed by the team of the KVN (Club of the Funny and Inventive), which led to the idea of creating 'Quarter 95'.
Since 2003, the current president began giving concerts on television. Gaining popularity, his team grew into a full-fledged studio and two years later created the show 'Evening Quarter,' where the future president was the lead actor, screenwriter, and ideologist.
Zelensky managed to work with many TV channels and participated in various shows, yet his most recognizable creation, of course, was 'Evening Quarter.'
All the money I have, I earned thanks to my talent.
In his filmography, Zelensky has a dozen feature films: his latest role was in the TV series 'Servant of the People' as Vasyl Holoborodko – a history teacher who is elected president of Ukraine.
Personal Life
In 2003, Zelensky married Olena Kiyashko, whom he had known since school, as they attended parallel classes.
I knew that wherever a large crowd gathers and laughter resonates, Zelensky is definitely there, the entire gymnasium knew it.

Volodymyr dated his wife for eight years, and after their wedding, they welcomed daughter Oleksandra (2004) and son Kyrylo (2013).
Presidency
After an astonishing career, unexpectedly for everyone, Zelensky chose politics.
In the second round of elections, he defeated the previous president Petro Poroshenko with over 73% of the votes.
On May 20, 2019, Volodymyr Zelensky officially became the president of Ukraine, taking the oath of office. The next day, he dissolved the Verkhovna Rada of the 8th convocation. That same month, he visited Ukrainian troops in Luhansk for the first Time.
I am not a politician. I am just an ordinary person who came to break this system.
Zelensky also held the longest press conference – the marathon lasted over 14 hours.
Who am I? I am the president of Ukraine. I studied at the law faculty. Then I practiced in court. Then I became an artist, producer, businessman. And then I became president – the president of our beautiful state. And each of these stages was like a different life. But in fact, it is one life.
Full-Scale War
After the Russian invasion, the head of state changed dramatically, but bravely held his ground. It is worth noting that since the beginning of the full-scale war, Russian special services have attempted to assassinate the leader of Ukraine 12 times, yet Zelensky was not scared and did not flee the country; moreover, he increasingly visits the front lines and meets with soldiers and journalists.
He has been devoting less time to his family, as Zelensky now deals with state affairs around the clock.
