Air Force Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: holiday history, greetings, and cards.

Ukraine celebrates the Air Force Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine annually on the first Sunday of August. In 2024, this holiday falls on August 4.

On this day, military personnel serving in the Air Force of the AFU are congratulated and veterans of these forces are honored. Demonstration performances of aviation equipment and pilots are also organized.

History of the holiday

The emergence of the Air Force of Ukraine dates back to the period of the Ukrainian People's Republic (1917-1921), when the first aviation units were created. After the declaration of independence of Ukraine in 1991, the process of forming its own Air Force began. In 2004, a reorganization took place, and the Air Force of the AFU was merged with the Air Defense Forces.
