Denys Shmyhal has headed the Ministry of Energy: what is known about the new minister.

According to Novyny.live: Denys Shmyhal has become the new head of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, having previously held the position of prime minister. His appointment came after a long period of working in various leadership roles, which prepared him for new challenges in the energy sector.
Personal life and education
Denys Shmyhal was born on October 15, 1975, in Lviv. He received his education at Lviv Polytechnic, graduating with a degree in 'engineer-economist/production management'. In 2003, he obtained a PhD in economics. Shmyhal has been married since 1998 and has two daughters — Anna and Sofia.
Career
Denys Shmyhal's career began with leadership positions in Lviv region in the 1990s and early 2000s. From 2009 to 2013, he held positions in the Lviv Regional State Administration, and in 2014 became the deputy head of the main tax department in the Lviv region. From 2015 to 2017, Shmyhal served as the general director of Lvivkholod, and from 2017 to 2019, he headed DTEK Burshtyn TPP. In August 2019, he was appointed head of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration.
Denys Shmyhal's political journey continued in 2020 when he joined the government first as a vice prime minister and then, from March 4, 2020, served as prime minister. He led the government until July 2025 when he resigned from the premiership. Just two days later, he was appointed Minister of Defense of Ukraine. In 2006, Shmyhal was elected as a deputy of the Vynnyky City Council from the UNP and also ran for the Lviv Regional Council in 2010 and 2015, but unsuccessfully. In the snap elections to the Verkhovna Rada in 2014, he was an independent candidate in constituency No. 121. In 2019, Denys Shmyhal became head of the Lviv Regional State Administration.
With his new appointment as Minister of Energy, Shmyhal aims to ensure efficiency and stability in Ukraine's energy sector.
