The US condemns violations of Georgia's voters
Georgia's ruling party abused state resources, bought votes, and threatened voters to falsify the elections, said US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller.
According to him, such actions undermined the trust of the public and the international community in fair election results. "We support calls for a full investigation of all reports of election-related violations and urge respect for freedom of speech and peaceful assembly," Miller emphasized.
He also urged the Georgian authorities to take into account the majority's desire to move closer to the Euro-Atlantic community rather than strengthening authoritarian policies.
