New Supplemental Payments Planned for Government Employees

According to Novyny.live: Ukraine is moving forward with plans to introduce additional compensation for civil servants and local government staff involved in international projects. The draft law, numbered 10284, has already received backing from the relevant parliamentary committee and is being prepared for a second reading vote.

The bill passed its first reading on June 5, 2024. During the review process, lawmakers submitted 82 amendments and suggestions. The specialized committee has now recommended that parliament approve the legislation in its second reading and adopt it as law. According to Oleksandr Aliksiichuk,

“the relevant committee of the Verkhovna Rada recommended that parliament support draft law No. 10284 in the second reading and finally adopt it.”

What the Proposal Entails

The initiative outlines extra payments for officials taking on additional workloads, as well as incentives for hiring specialists with foreign language skills. Funding for these bonuses would come from international technical assistance resources. This approach is expected to significantly boost the performance of civil servants and local government employees engaged in international projects, while also ensuring they remain properly motivated.

If passed, draft law 10284 could mark a major step forward in improving working conditions for public servants involved in cross-border cooperation. Beyond raising morale, the measure may also enhance the effectiveness of internationally funded programs in Ukraine. By offering supplemental pay and bringing in language-proficient experts, the country stands to benefit from smoother execution of projects backed by global organizations. Ultimately, this could have a positive impact on infrastructure development and social initiatives across Ukraine.
