Thirty-six Hours of Search Over Thirty Kilometers

According to The Sun: A four-year-old boy named August 'Gus' Lamont, who went missing in a remote area of Australia, has appeared in photographs for the first time as the search enters its sixth day.

August 'Gus' Lamont, missing for six days Police reported that the boy left only one trail He was last seen wearing a blue shirt featuring a Minion from the movie 'Despicable Me'

The Search Moves to a New Phase

The police stated that the rescue operation has transitioned to the 'recovery phase' as authorities believe the boy is unlikely to have survived six days in the wild.

Gus was last seen on a farm approximately 30 kilometers south of Yunta. He was wearing a gray hat, a blue shirt with 'Despicable Me' branding, and light gray pants.

Although numerous searchers have thoroughly scoured the area, there have been no signs of Gus, except for one.

This trail was discovered about 500 meters from the property. Local police stated:

“It looks very similar to the shoe print of what Gus was wearing when he disappeared.”

On Thursday, his parents, concerned about the situation, posted an image of Gus in a shirt featuring Peppa Pig with the caption “My Mummy”.

The police are deploying specialist divers, infrared cameras, dogs, and drones for the urgent search for Gus.

The terrain where the search is taking place is challenging, with dense scrub and rocky outcrops.

Words from a Family Friend

A family friend of Gus made a statement on behalf of his parents.

Bill Garbison said:

“This has been a shock for our family and friends, and we are trying to understand what has happened.”

“Gus's absence is felt by each of us, and we mourn him more than words can say.”

He added:

“Our hearts ache, and we hope he is found and returned to us safe.”

“We kindly ask for privacy while we focus on supporting the search and working closely with the police.”

The police currently do not believe Gus was abducted, as the only people traveling that route are the station owners.

They noted that Gus typically does not wander far, as he usually stays within the property boundaries.

The authorities added:

“We understand he is quite a calm boy, but as you know, he is a country boy and also very active.”

The police noted that the footprint is “the strongest piece of evidence we have.”

However, they stressed that time is critical, considering how long Gus has been without food, water, and shelter.

On Wednesday, the Australian Defence Force confirmed that their assistance has been enlisted to support the search.
