The government launches monitoring of personal data: who and when views your data.
The access control system for personal data starts in Ukraine
According to inkorr.com: The government of Ukraine has decided to launch a new subsystem for monitoring access to personal data as part of the 'Trembita' system. This initiative will allow Ukrainians to track how their data is used by government agencies.
According to information from the Ministry of Digital Transformation, soon the 'Diia' mobile app will have a push notification feature. It will inform users about who, when, and for what purpose accessed their information in state registries.
'Every Ukrainian should be aware of how their data is used. The new service will allow them to review every instance of access,' the agency noted.
Each request for access to information will be recorded: if a government agency accesses a registry to obtain a specific service, the system will automatically collect this information and notify the citizen with all the details.
Transparency and international data protection standards
The Ministry of Digital Transformation also noted that in some cases notifications will not be sent, particularly during criminal investigations, counterintelligence, the fight against terrorism, or pre-trial investigations.
A similar system is already successfully operating in Estonia under the name Data Tracker. Having studied this experience, Ukraine is implementing international standards to ensure transparency and compliance with European data protection norms.
The implementation of the new subsystem for monitoring access to personal data is an important step towards transparency in government activities. Ukrainians will have the opportunity to be aware of how and for what purposes their data is used, which may increase trust in government agencies. The implementation of international data protection standards also indicates Ukraine's intentions to integrate into global privacy protection practices.Read also
