The Best Shed Pub of the Year in the UK

According to The Sun: Glen Gandy, 51, spent around £20,000 and two years building his now award-winning man cave in his backyard.

Called Cognitos, this private shed pub boasts a DJ booth with disco lights, an arcade machine of Space Invaders, a music nook, a beer garden, and a hot tub, which even features a room with a toilet and shower.

Glen stated: “I never expected to be one of them, let alone win. I’m thrilled.”

Glen's pub project plans arose during the lockdown, and the construction began in June 2023 with the help of his friends.

The bar, which is fully insulated, is now located where a summer house once stood.

As organizers of comedy clubs, the name of the garden pub is in memory of a comedian whom Glen was friends with - Ian Cognito, who died on stage during a performance.

The annual competition for 'shed' beer enthusiasts is organized by Twofatblokes.co.uk and Ngage Radio, who have awarded the Shed Pub of the Year for five consecutive years.

Ashley Turner from Two Fat Blokes Bar Emporium said: “The quality of the entrants makes deciding the winner increasingly challenging each year.”

DJ Danny Drayton noted: “We are very proud to once again participate in the Shed Pub of the Year competition; we have so many regular listeners from the shed pub community.”

Glen Gandy's shed pub became the winner of the annual competition dedicated to the best beer building in the UK. This backyard bar, named after Glen's deceased friend, became the shed of the year due to its originality and unique design. Many quality entries were submitted to the competition, making the judges' decision on the winner more difficult.
