Post-Storm Road Repairs Set for Completion by June 2024: Deadlines and Budget Revealed.
Road Restoration Plan
According to Novyny.live: The State Restoration Agency has set a target to finish repairing roads damaged by severe weather by June 2024. Although current progress is slow, the agency expects a major ramp-up in activity. According to agency head Serhiy Sukhomlyn, crews are currently covering roughly 25,000 square meters per day. However, the goal is to increase that pace to over 150,000 square meters daily by the end of March.
Funding the Repairs
How much money is needed for road repairs? An estimated 12–14 billion hryvnias are required for post-winter maintenance work. In 2026, the plan is to repair 21.5 million square meters of road surface. Yet Sukhomlyn points out that underfunding in the road sector exceeds 90%. This highlights an urgent need to improve financial support and accelerate the repair timeline.

Still, meeting the stated targets will demand a significant boost in output, as infrastructure restoration remains a top national priority.
Repairing roads is essential for traffic safety and regional economic growth, especially after harsh weather events. Rebuilding infrastructure will enhance transportation links and attract investment across multiple sectors. Given the severe funding shortfall, it is critical for the government to secure the necessary resources for road repairs, which are vital for the country’s continued development.
