Rains Halt Sugar Factories in Vinnytsia: What is Happening with Sugar.
Stopping the Operations of Sugar Factories Due to Bad Weather
According to inkorr.com: The sugar factories in Vinnytsia region have suspended their activities due to a lack of raw materials. This happened as a result of bad weather that prevented farmers from harvesting sugar beets. As a result, there was a shortage of raw materials, and two factories stopped operating. Currently, the situation has slightly improved: farmers have already started harvesting, and three factories have resumed production, while other enterprises that have stopped are looking for ways to obtain the necessary amount of raw materials to resume work.
During practically the entire first and the beginning of the second decade of October, it rained in Vinnytsia region. Accordingly, due to soil overmoisture, agrarians were unable to dig up sugar beets. As a result of such weather conditions, there was a shortage of sugar raw materials, which led to the stopping of two sugar factories.
Yield of Sugar Beets
However, there are also good news: the yield of sugar beets in Vinnytsia region has shown excellent results. Farmers have completed the harvest of beets on more than half of the designated areas, which amounts to 19 thousand hectares. The average yield reached 431 quintals per hectare — which is 29 quintals more than last year.
Therefore, the sugar factories in Vinnytsia region temporarily halted their operations due to a lack of raw materials caused by the bad weather that complicated the harvesting process. However, farmers have achieved impressive results in harvesting, increasing the average yield by 29 quintals per hectare compared to the previous year. This positive dynamic may become the basis for the resumption of production at sugar factories in the near future if the weather conditions favor the harvesting of the remaining crop.
