Rory McIlroy Debuts in India After the Ryder Cup: Who Will Be the Favorite.
Rory McIlroy Returns After the Ryder Cup
According to The Sun: Rory McIlroy is back on the course after the Ryder Cup, competing at the Delhi Golf Club in the debut DP World India Championship this week.
He will be joined by three of his teammates from last month's epic victory at Bethpage Black – Tommy Fleetwood, Shane Lowry, and Viktor Hovland. Members of the USA team, Brian Harman and Ben Griffin, have also arrived.
The tournament lineup is simply stunning for an event with a prize pool of 4 million dollars, and it seems that golf stars will be able to score plenty of birdies on a course that measures less than 7000 yards.
McIlroy is traditionally the favorite with odds of around 9.2. However, the world number 2 usually takes time to regain form after a break.
“I have a feeling that Ben Griffin, who has odds of 10-1 on most lists, might be the player who could deliver a tasty Indian result…”
DP World India Championship 2025: Betting Insights
The American looked a bit shaky at Bethpage, considering how his teammates struggled during the European showdown.
Griffin played only once in singles, where he and Bryson DeChambeau barely lost to Fleetwood and Justin Rose on the final green in their quartet.
He certainly wants to back up his worth and won a tight contest against Rasmus Højgaard on the final day.
Fleetwood at 6-1 seems a bit miserable, while Lowry, who is currently not in great form, does not attract much interest with odds of 18-1. So Hovland, also at 10-1, may be the best out of the European quartet for the Ryder Cup.
Michael Kim, who showed true grit by winning the French Open a few weeks ago, is another American worth backing, especially at odds of 25-1.
The fast-rising Spaniard Ángel Ayora, who performed well in his championship, has odds of about 33-1 to win. But even at that price, he might prove trustworthy.
Given the lack of course form, our best benchmark this week is recent results, and French ace Ugo Coussa has shown good results in Spain, finishing fifth despite a rather weak second round of 73.
He’s one of the players to watch with odds of 66-1, while Grant Forrest has also shown signs of good play that earned him a win at the Nexo Championship in August.
He too has odds of 66-1, while Joel Girbach, third in Spain after making it to the final group, is a true find with odds of 100-1.
And if you’re looking for even more attractive odds, Finn Tapio Pulkkanen has shown enough encouraging signs of form to catch attention at odds of 200-1.
