Top 10 Midfielders of the Dream Team: Who Leads the Ranking by Unexpected Metrics.
According to The Sun: The list of the best midfielders of the Dream Team this season has sparked lively interest.
Usual leaders are absent, replaced by some unexpected candidates, raising the question: should managers look for new options when planning their next steps?
GettyTOP 10 MIDFIELDERS OF THE DREAM TEAM THIS SEASON
- 72 points – Antoine Semenyo (£4.9m)
- 69 points – Moises Caicedo (£4.7m)
- 60 points – Enzo Fernandez (£4.7m)
- 59 points – Jack Grealish (£3.8m)
- 59 points – Diego Gomez (£3m)
- 59 points – Mohamed Kudus (£4.8m)
- 57 points – John McGinn (£4.5m)
- 56 points – Bruno Guimaraes (£5.1m)
- 53 points – Elliot Anderson (£4.1m)
- 53 points – Iliman Ndiaye (£4m)
The success of the midfielders is not related to European matches that could affect their schedules.
Semenyo, Grealish, Gomez, and Ndiaye have succeeded despite limited domestic competition.
Recently we compared Semenyo's achievements with Brian Mbeumo's results in the 2024/25 season.
Dream Team bosses who have confidently backed the mentioned midfielders, despite their comparatively light schedule, have been rewarded to this point; however, whether this trend will continue is a key question.Getty
This season, two rounds of European matches have already taken place.
However, four more are scheduled in the next seven game weeks, which will significantly increase the gap between teams participating in Europe and others by mid-December.
Semenyo and Grealish must demonstrate an extremely high level of play to keep up with opponents who regularly compete in midweek.
The value of additional matches is already becoming evident as we review the aforementioned list, as McGinn and Anderson hold high positions due to notable performances in the UEFA Europa League.

These statistics are based on a relatively small sample as the season is still young.
This is most vividly illustrated by Gomez, who occupies such a high position despite having played less than half of the minutes in the Premier League.
The secret to his success lies in the incredible four goals scored in the Carabao Cup match against Barnsley, which earned him 32 points at once.
However, Gomez is likely to drop in the rankings in the coming weeks as the 'Mariners' have no favorable fixtures against lower league teams in their calendar.

Caicedo's success has come as a surprise to many managers.
The player number 25 for 'Chelsea' leads in interceptions, and his interceptions statistics allow him to place third in bonus points. The sharp accuracy of his long-range shots is also a new aspect of his game.
Now that he has scored three goals in seven matches, the question remains whether Caicedo can maintain this new attacking potential.

Not only the presence of new names in the midfielders' ranking is interesting but also the absence of some well-known players.
Players like Bukayo Saka (£6.1m), Bruno Fernandes (£5.7m), Cole Palmer (£5.5m), Phil Foden (£5m), and Eberechi Eze (£5.1m) are not part of the list.
Injuries are an integral part of the game, and those who got injured cannot be blamed, but it is important to realize that managers cannot rely on traditional favorites in midfield this season.
Saka and Eze may come to the forefront as 'Arsenal' has six matches in the next three game weeks.
By the time of the international break in November, both from 'Arsenal' may have chances of success.
It will also be interesting to see how Pochettino and Palmer perform upon their return to the field.
With the emergence of Caicedo and Fernandez on top, managers are unlikely to rush to change their chosen midfielders from 'Chelsea'.
Exciting times are ahead.
