Emergency Service Issues Correction on Poltava Poisoning Reports

According to Novyny.live: The State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU) has officially refuted circulating reports of a mass poisoning incident in the Poltava region. In a statement released on February 9, 2023, the agency clarified that the cases in question were, in fact, carbon monoxide poisonings. Such clarifications are crucial during wartime to prevent the spread of misinformation and public panic.

The incident began when police received a call around 1:00 PM on February 8, 2023, concerning a suspected household gas poisoning. The individuals affected in the incident were:

  • A woman born in 1955;
  • A minor relative born in 2010;
  • Another woman born in 1977.

The SESU stressed that widespread rumors of mass poisoning by an unknown substance are false. The service urged the public to rely solely on official communications from the Ministry of Health, the SESU, and regional military administrations. The affected family suffered carbon monoxide poisoning at Davydovsky Lane in Poltava. The agency noted that the causes of people feeling unwell can vary widely.

Critical Need for Gas Appliance Safety

It is vital to emphasize that the safety of gas equipment and adherence to operational rules remain pressing concerns, especially during the cold winter months. The public must be aware of the potential risks associated with using household gas and follow the guidelines provided by relevant services to prevent similar incidents in the future.
