According to ТСН: In Switzerland, archaeologists discovered two rare Celtic coins, aged 2300 years.

Both gold coins were found in the spring in a marshy area near the municipality of Arisdorf. These coins were made around the 3rd century BC.

According to a statement from Swiss archaeologists, these artifacts are among the oldest found in the country. In total, there are no more than 20 such coins.

Historical significance

Archaeologists emphasized that at that time, Celtic warriors often served as mercenaries, receiving payment in the form of gold Greek coins. This inspired Celtic artisans to create similar products. For example, on the found coins, one side depicts the profile of the god Apollo, and the other - a horse. However, Celtic patterns have been added to these images, characteristic of Greek tradition.

Swiss scientists believe that these coins may have been used for trade transactions due to their very high value. Perhaps they served as offerings to the gods. The swamp where the coins were found could have been considered sacred by the Celts.

Let us remind you, in Pereyaslav, a coin was found under the roots of a tree that is nearly 400 years old.

This unusual discovery may significantly enhance our understanding of the culture and economic practices of the Celts in the territory of modern Switzerland. Studying such artifacts allows for a better understanding of the interaction between various cultures in ancient times, as well as the role of gold in the economy and religious customs of Celtic tribes.
