Eddie Hearn on the family's secret star: why his sister is not in the Netflix series.
Eddie Hearn's sister — the "secret star" of the sports empire
According to The Sun: Eddie Hearn highlighted his sister Katie, who rarely appears in public, as the "secret star" of their father's sports empire, valued in billions of pounds.
However, despite Katie's important role at Matchroom, she will not appear in the new Netflix documentary series titled Matchroom: The Greatest Showmen.

In an interview with The Sun, Eddie explained why his sister won’t appear in the show:
"My sister is not interested in public attention. We are very different. She was an overachiever, while I was not. When we made the deal with Netflix, they asked if they would see my sister as well. But she is always in the office, hiding from the cameras."
Despite not appearing on screen, Katie plays an important role behind the scenes, having 40 years of experience in producing and globally distributing sports events. She is the director of programming and the CEO of Matchroom Media.
Family relationships
Eddie also spoke about his decision not to include his wife and children in the TV series. He noted:
"It's mostly because of the kids. They already feel the pressure of being the daughters of a famous father."
"I wouldn’t want them to have a preconceived notion of who they could be," he added, noting that his children are already assessing the show. "My older daughter said: 'yes, it's good, but you're losing a lot out of this.'"

The future in business
Regarding the likelihood of his children joining the family business, Eddie stated:
"I’ve always said I don’t want my daughters working in the business, but if they develop a passion for it, then why not?"
"When I finished school, I didn’t want to work for my father, but over time, I realized my place is here, and it’s important for him," he added.
Eddie hopes his daughters will find their own path, although he hopes they won’t go into boxing: "Maybe I will still keep them away from boxing...".
Highlighting the significance of his sister Katie’s work, Eddie Hearn emphasizes the importance of family values in his career and business. His concern for his children also reflects the importance of maintaining a balance between success and personal life under constant media scrutiny. Katie’s experience in the field of sports events will remain critically important for the continued development of Matchroom, despite her invisibility on screen.
